Full time starting salary is normally in the range £25,506 to £27,399, with potential progression once in post to £31,718

Job Summary
You will be expected to process all financial transactions with due regard to the University's Manual of Financial Rules.

This will include providing advice, guidance and resolutions to all service users, assessing, processing, monitoring, and reviewing financial transactions whilst maintaining a strong audit trail and developing systems which meet the needs of the University.

You would analyse orders processed and make recommendations for contractual improvements and engage in the enhancements of existing arrangements via analysing the order data and assist in improvements and support development of the wider customer services elements of Buying Team development.


You would be required to have excellent IT skills, a sound understanding of accounting concepts and strong communication skills to ensure that services can be professionally managed and good relationships are maintained and to manage a diverse workload, you will be expected to exercise appropriate judgement in processing financial transactions, contribute to finance process reviews to ensure effectiveness, and be involved in ensuring the services provided reflect the changing needs of Professional Services and support the efficiency agenda.


Department Overview


The Procurement and Insurance Division of Finance has responsibility for the effective procurement of Goods and Services within the University.

It has a key role to ensure best value for money in the utilisation of the University's circa £230 million annual non-pay budget, ensuring statutory obligations relating to tendering and contracting are fulfilled, also ensure commercial risks and the University's supplier base are evaluated and adequately managed.


Main Duties

  • Obtain quotations for Requisitioners, supporting end users in ensuring specifications are accurate and that selected suppliers can provide appropriate goods and services. Ensure that the quotation process is competitive and in line with the University's Procurem
