We have a fantastic opportunity for a
Permanent Site Supervisor - Track to join our
Rail Delivery team in
Cardiff.



AIW Railway Project - AIW is the Infrastructure Manager for the assets across the Core Valley Lines network. The Core Valley Lines (CVL) programme of works forms a significant part of the South Wales Metro project covering a broad spectrum of rail type works, to both improve and renew existing assets.


Site Supervisor - Track plays an important part in to assist the Project Manager Track and Off Track and / or Construction Manager Track in delivering allocated tasks safely in accordance with legislation and Amey Procedures to contract specification and programme.


The standard hours of work are 35 per week.


You will be responsible for

  • To promote safe working practices, ensure full implementation and compliance with safety responsibility statement below.
  • To adhere to the Amey Essentials as applicable
  • Responsible for the submission of accurate site records to enable effective monitoring of programme and cost plans as requested to agreed format as applicable.
  • Ensure that toolbox talks, task briefs and COSS briefs are carried out for all work tasks prior to commencement of work for allocated contracts.
  • Ensure that all allocated tasks are undertaken in accordance with the planned safe method of working.
  • Responsible for ordering and receipt of site deliverables, timely returns of goods receipts notices as instructed.
  • Responsible for ordering and receipt of site plant, including security and timely offhire as instructed.
  • Supervise subcontractors, contract staff and direct labour for allocated site activities.
  • Carry out performance reviews for direct reports, administering poor performance, attendance management and disciplinary procedures as applicable.
  • Undertake PDRs and staff development of direct reports where applicable
  • The role is one of site supervision and based generally in a site environment. It is a requirement of the role to attend site on a regular basis (including night time).

that you will effectively supervising and delivering approved construction tasks to the agreed resource and programme timescales.


We want to hear from you if you have

  • The ability to supervise and lead the site team in the successful delivery of the allocated contracts.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to influence and communicate effectively with site staff and project team.
  • Experience of railway construction management for specific discipline.
  • PTS/COSS
  • Knowledge of risk assessment techniques.
  • Must be able to drive
  • Engineer Supervisory skills
  • Understanding of Railway planning systems
  • Understanding of the Railway operating environment


  • Computer literacy

  • Excel, Word, Power point and Outlook
  • Engineering Supervisor
  • Supervisory Management training / qualification with relevant practical experience
