Our client a Large Charity based in Southend-On-Sea are looking for a Head of Human Resources to manage the HR function within the company.

This is a fantastic long term opportunity to progress where for training and development, personal growth, and careerengagement is paramount.


Day to Day

  • Dealing with HR issues arising with staff, including disciplinary hearings; hearing grievances etc
  • Overseeing recruitment and interview processes
  • Drafting, communicating and undertaking regular reviews of human resources policies and procedures, including the Staff Handbook.
  • Ensuring that formal job offer letters, contracts, contract addendums and job specifications are produced/signed.
  • Administering staff loans and repayments
  • Monitoring new staff on probation and process probation paperwork
  • Managing annual staff increases and communications
  • Liaising with external pension advisors and death in service scheme providers.
  • Performing staff exit interviews and circulate the outcome to the relevant management.
  • Carrying out market reviews from time to time of salary levels, ensuring the company remains competitive in its remuneration policy.
  • Coordinating equipment with leavers and starters in conjunction with IT department.
  • Processing payroll for 100+ staff ready for outsourced payroll provider
  • Supporting Directors in strategic planning for HR matters
  • Treating personal, private or sensitive information about individuals, organisations and/or clients or staff with confidentiality.

Key Skills, Knowledge & Experience

  • Must be CIPD qualified and have hands on experience in a similar position.
  • Must have experience managing a HR department for 100+ employees
  • Must have experience of working within Payroll and dealing sensitively with HR issues
  • Knowledge of IRIS HR or similar desirable
  • Must have excellent IT Skills, including internet and database systems, IRIS Hr would also be an advantage.
