We have a fantastic opportunity for a HR Officer to join our Plenmeller site in Haltwhistle, Northumberland UK.

As the HR Officer you will deliver proactive and flexible generalist HR support to the site leadership, to improve business performance and deliver people plans.

You'll act as the internal point of contact to line managers in complex HR matters and support the Divisional HRBP with HR activities including resource management, organisational development & design and employee engagement.

Qualifications:

Person Specification

  • Qualified to CIPD Level 5 or above, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of three year of professional Human Resources experience.
  • Must have experience of working within a Unionised environment.
  • Proficient computer skills, including experience with MS Office, Teams and knowledge of HRIS software.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal and relationship building skills.
  • Demonstrated problem solving abilities along with strong time management and prioritization skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with proven ability to complete multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, work independently and exercise good judgement.
  • Ability to work in a fastpaced environment.
  • Must have a strong work ethic and be selfmotivated.
  • Must possess ability to maintain confidentiality and establish credibility as a trusted HR professional.
  • Must be able to adjust work schedule to accommodate all shifts.

Responsibilities:


Purpose of Role


The HR Officer is a generalist HR role responsible for the end to end employee experience of approximately 150 colleagues at our Plenmeller site.

With the support of the HR/Payroll Administrator you will manage all functional areas within your responsibility to included; employee relations, salary and payroll administration, benefits, training, manpower planning, recruitment and employee engagement.

In line with the wider group, provide effective and efficient support and information on all HR issues, in accordance with company policies and procedures to all levels of colleagues.

You will also coach and develop the sites management team in HR matters and keep them abreast of changes in employment law as well as ensuring legal compliance.

Make recommendations that encompass trends and new developments within the human resources function. Works independently and makes decisions that are in the best interest of the organization.

The HR Officer reports directly to the Divisional HRBP with a strong dotted-line reporting relationship to the Site Operations Manager.


Main Tasks

  • Ensure our people are effectively managed through coaching line managers whilst monitoring trends and ensuring measures are taken to address any issues.
  • Implement people initiatives to drive business performance, enhance employee engagement and people capability, ensuring the business can achieve its objectives.
  • Partner and coach, the site leadership team on all aspects of leading their people and delivery of the corporate people plan.
  • Provide robust and challenging debate on people matters to ensure great commercial decisions are driven with people as a key differentiator.
  • Use HR data to highlight trends and providing solutions.
  • To ensure all managers have the relevant level of training, coaching and support to enable them to own their people accountabilities.
  • Support line managers in complex ER cases, ensuring they are conducted with a consistent approach.
  • Support colleague training and development including; talent spotting, ongoing personal development plans and succession planning.
  • Provide accurate, consistent and timely advice and guidance to managers and colleagues on all areas of HR policy, best practice and employee relations, ensuring adherence with legislation and fair treatment of all our colleagues.
