The Salvation Army provides support and accommodation for homeless adults within the South Lanarkshire area. We are looking to recruit an assistant support worker to join our team in Halfway.

This will be to provide Advice & Assistance to individuals faced with homelessness who would gain support through our Out of Hours Service.


Key Responsibilities:

You will be responsible for assisting and delivering high-quality support to vulnerable individuals at time of a crisis and when needing assistance with advice and accommodation.

You will need good communication skills and an enthusiasm for working with vulnerable, homeless adults.

  • Motivation towards supporting vulnerable clients to achieve focussed and positive life outcomes.
  • Knowledge of Crisis Intervention.
  • Knowledge of reporting and logging calls.

To succeed you will need to have the ability to work independently and be comfortable as a lone worker, when required, with a good knowledge of the relevant protocols and safety precautions.

You'll be able to maintain passion for working with individuals who have had to flee their own home.

  • Qualification or equivalent in a related field or be willing to work towards
  • Experience of working with vulnerable clients in this field
  • Knowledge and understanding of supported housing funding streams and reporting requirements
  • And PVG scheme disclosure check. All new employees have to register with SSSC within 6 months of appointment.
