Our award-winning Procurement and Contract Management team are looking for an Assistant Buyer to join their team based at Severn Trent Head Office in Coventry City Centre.

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW

The aim of the procurement team is to support a sustainable supply chain, ensuring our external expenditure is effectively managed in order to deliver the lowest costs and highest standards.

We have an exciting opportunity to join the team as an Assistant Buyer. You will support a team of Category Managers in the management of technology categories within Severn Trent.

The primary objective being to manage and negotiate low value, low risk one off requirements/ad-hoc spend, typically ranging £5k to £250k in value, to support Category Managers in the management of larger and more complex requirements and EU tenders and to provide great customer service and guidance to our stakeholders on our Procurement Processes.

You will be required to research supply markets and suppliers, partner with stakeholders to lead quotation and supplier selection processes ensuring the correct processes are always followed.

Confidence, drive and excellent communication skills will be needed in this role in order to liaise with a wide range of stakeholders and suppliers.

Some of your key accountabilities in this role will be:

You'll need to be confident with excellent communication skills in order to liaise and negotiate with a wide range of stakeholders and suppliers.
You'll have the ability to manage stakeholders and build relationships.
You'll have experience and knowledge of purchasing processes (e.g., managing tenders and contractors).
You'll ideally have a commercial background with negotiating experience.
Good IT skills, with the ability to develop and maintain spreadsheets and databases, (including SAP, Access, Word, PowerPoint).
