East Suffolk Council is an exciting place to work and a great place to make a real difference to people's lives, delivering vital services to a quarter of a million people across East Suffolk.

Could you support people into volunteering? Are you interested in arts and culture? The 'Cultural Connections' volunteering project will create a new reality for volunteering in East Suffolk, helping people who haven't volunteered before to take the first step into volunteering, focusing on volunteering at local cultural events.

Volunteers will be fully supported into meaningful volunteering roles that help them progress and grow.

The experience volunteers gain through Cultural Connections will be a springboard into training, further education and employment, in the cultural sector and beyond, changing lives forever.

We currently have an exciting opportunity to join the East Suffolk Council's Communities Team as a
Volunteers Co-ordinator.

Your role:

As part of the council's new 'Cultural Connections' volunteering programme, you will recruit volunteers through engagement activities and local events.

You will focus on attracting first time volunteers from groups that experience the highest barriers to becoming a volunteer.

You will connect new volunteers into appropriate volunteering opportunities at exciting cultural events, and travel across East Suffolk, supporting volunteers wherever they're volunteering, as well as supporting volunteers to run their own small events.

You will collect feedback from volunteers and then work with the team to improve their experience, signposting them into further volunteering and training opportunities, playing a key role in making the Cultural Connections project a success and helping your volunteers make real progress.

What you will need:

You will ideally have previous experience of supporting volunteers, planning community events and working within a community setting.

The ability to build relationships and motivate and empower others from different backgrounds and with a variety of needs is also essential.
