Job Purpose:

Environment, Health and safety advisors use their knowledge and skills to promote a positive culture in the workplace.

The main role of an Environment, Health and Safety Advisor is to provide competent advice to the business and also ensure that business and all operational and engineering teams; comply with safety legislation.

With a focus on safety and environmental policies, practices and procedures, the EHS Advisor audits and inspects, to monitor adherence.

With a learning from experience mindset, the Advisor will lead learning teams, support development of a learning culture and ensure all incidents undergo thorough investigation.


The Environment, Health and Safety Advisor will be part of a team of 4 but must also be comfortable with working autonomously, they should be confident in presenting and be able to communicate at all levels of the organisation.

Experience in environmental management and compliance would be advantageous

Some travel to other sites for meetings, training, conferences maybe required but not regularly.


Key Responsibilities will include:


  • Undertake Risk Assessments and Site Workplace Inspections.
  • Audit the Sites Environment, Health and Safety Management System in line with the internal audit program and provide suitable and practical recommendations for improvement.
  • Carry out audits of statutory requirements with key stakeholders at suitable intervals.
  • Ensure support is provided to Operations with technical Environment, Health and Safety expertise.
  • Produce Monthly reports and presentations.
  • Drive the EHS agenda by leading by example and delivering the Site EHS Strategy
  • Support managers in accident and near miss investigations ensuring they are completed in a timely manner, to a robust quality and with appropriate actions.
  • Support the Business with information, training and guidance.
  • Coach colleagues on audits, risk assessments and investigations to ensure robust quality and timely delivery.
  • Develop and implement EHS Training as required and support the development of colleagues and ROEHS throughout the business.
  • Challenge and coach all colleagues on unsafe acts, systems and procedures.
  • Provide advice and guidance on PPE
  • Actively develop, promote and improve the health and safety culture throughout the site.
  • Develop and maintain good professional crossfunctional relationships with internal stakeholders so as to provide authoritative advice and guidance.
  • Liaise with external authorities if required in the absence of the EHS Manager.
  • Attend cross functional health and safety meetings as required to support colleagues and communicate H&S matters.
  • Support the implementation of the Site Environment, Health and Safety plans to support the strategy and improve standards in Environment, Health and Safety
  • Attend Environment, Health and Safety meetings and actively contribute to share best practice and output into the wider business to drive year on year improvements in accident statistics and risk control measures.
  • Support the creation and development of Health and Safety projects and improvement plans.
  • Monitor analyse and report on accident statistics, KPI's and accident/incident investigations.
  • Deliver the Environment, Health and Safety Programme, driving elements within responsibility.
  • Conduct Internal Audits.
  • Oversee Minor Environment and Health and Safety Incident Investigations
  • Ensure the company accident book is up to date and all incidents recorded accurately for both environmental and health and safety incidents.
  • Monitor Area EHS Tool Kits Audits and address nonconformances.
  • Conduct area inspections in line with ISO 14001

Environment Health and Safety Advisor Required Qualifications:

  • NEBOSH Certificate Level 3 or equivalent with 2+ years EHS experience

Environment Health and Safety Advisor Desired/Development Opportunity Qualifications and Skills:
  • Tech Member of IOSH
  • A environmental qualification such as AIEMA
  • EHS auditing / training qualification
  • Ability to work well as an individual and as part of a team.
