Touch Design is looking for a talented Mid-Weight Graphic Designer

£25-£27K depending on skills and experience. Full Time preferred. Permanent


With many years of experience, the Touch team provides proven high quality creative material for a diverse set of public and private sector clients.

This includes specialist work for the Healthcare sector, working with small SMEs through to large multinational organisations.


They must be able to:

  • Provide inspirational, creative design across print, digital, branding and advertising.
  • Think creatively to develop relevant and effective ideas and concepts.
  • Handle client projects from concept to completion, from initial sketches to final artworks.
  • Present final ideas and concepts clearly to clients and colleagues at all levels, advising on format, print production and timescales.

They must also demonstrate:

  • A positive and committed attitude.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • The ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Strong time management and organisational skills.


We are looking for someone with a minimum of four years current relevant experience which must include designing for both print and web.

Touch Design, 1 Kayes Walk, Nottingham NG1 1PY. This position is studio based and we are not looking for a remote designer.

Overall Job Purpose
To provide inspirational, creative design for print and online media.

To produce work of the highest standards for all clients of Touch Design, representing the core values of the business at all times.


Main Duties


Unless otherwise instructed and agreed, all duties & responsibilities are carried out under the guidance and supervision of the Lead Designer.


The postholder will be required to:

  • Work closely with the Lead Designer in order to learn all internal processes, procedures and protocols, with the scope to ultimately work with clients independently.
  • Meet clients to identify their business objectives, requirements of the job and budget.
  • Listen carefully to client needs before making design decisions; interpret requirements and develop concepts to suit their purpose.
  • Think creatively to develop relevant and effective ideas and concepts and to go beyond what has been asked of them.
  • Handling client projects from concept to completion, from initial sketches to final artworks.
  • Understand and implement corporate brand guidelines across all collateral.
  • Demonstrate creative thinking, using rough sketches.
  • Manage more than one design brief at a time, allocating the relevant amount of time according to the value of the job.
  • Proof-read all work thoroughly in order to produce accurate and high quality material.
  • Present final ideas and concepts clearly to clients and colleagues at all levels, advising on format, print production and timescales.
  • Amend designs in-line with feedback from the Lead Designer and/or client.
  • Prepare accurate final artwork for print and/or online.
  • Liaise with external printers and other suppliers to ensure deadlines are met and material is produced to the highest quality standards.
  • Take a professional approach to meeting budgets and deadlines.
  • Plan, schedule and review workloads and adjust accordingly under the guidance of the Lead
Designer.

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry software and emerging technologies in design.
  • Work as part of a team, including copywriters, photographers, other designers and web developers.
  • Work in the office unsupervised, answering the telephone and dealing with enquiries in the absence of the Lead Designer.
  • Work on the companies Environment and Sustainability Policy by contributing to website and digital related content.
  • Undertake any or all duties as required to meet the objectives of the business.

Person Specification

The postholder must meet the following criteria:

Essential skills, knowledge & experience

  • Minimum 4 years' current relevant experience which must include designing for both print and web
  • Evidence of relevant academic or professional training in graphic design
  • Experience of using InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop
  • Fully Mac literate
  • Accurate spelling and good standard of written English
  • Present a strong portfolio providing practical evidence of work across a range of design mediums

Desirable skills, knowledge & experience

  • Knowledge of After Effects
  • Knowledge of accessible design
  • Knowledge of coding/programming
  • Knowledge of packaging and printing techniques
  • MS Office
