Manufacturing Test Team Leader

4 day working week - Monday to Thursday hours per day

Our Opportunity


To lead a team of assembly/repair and test staff in the manufacture and/or repair of customer and developmental items as defined by product defining data.

To support the APRU Manager in the distribution of tasks and be responsible for work deployed throughout the team.

To ensure the team follow and maintain company processes and procedures in an effective and efficient manner.

To deploy and ensure the team is capable of maintaining throughput requirements to routed times and ensure quality of work & paperwork.


What the role has to offer:

  • To support the APRU Manager in driving delivery and ensuring that production/repair items are progressed efficiently (e.g. assy/test/insp) to achieve the plan.
  • Support the APRU in resolution of problems to achieving Quality Cost Delivery (QCD) requirements and escalation where required
  • Ensure team follows the defined process for the relevant production/repair activity (e.g. material flow, work instructions, routing, tooling)
  • Responsible for managing performance of team, particularly initial discussions with transition to APRU manager as appropriate / necessary.
  • Support APRU Manager in execution of successful SIM meetings
  • Ensure team follows general processes in line with role (e.g. raising nonconformances, completing routecards, timesheets etc).
  • Point of contact for capturing process/paperwork issues and education of process with team.
  • To maintain expected HS&E standards appropriate to the activities and ensure PPE is worn in line with risk assessments and COSHH requirements.
  • Ensure workplace management is adhered to for areas covered.
  • Encourage teams to identify and implement improvements using lean methodology.
  • Contribute to the generation of estimates for new build and repairs.
  • Conduct regular checkins with team members to review objectives and complete yearend review
  • Support the APRU Manager in identifying training needs of the team and maintain training matrix
  • Execute TPM plans as defined by the Process Engineering team
  • Ensure availability of Tooling/Test Equipment is present and calibrated at the point of use.
  • Recruit, lead, develop, encourage and support the team

About You

  • Good communication skills with the ability to communicate at all levels both verbally and written.
  • Good understanding of office tools
  • Attention to detail and ability to ensure all work is carried out accurately and conscientiously within quality and governance
  • Shows Initiative to define and implement improvement activities
  • Ability to work independently and lead a team effectively
  • Experience of successfully managing Teams in a manufacturing environment
  • An understanding of MRP/PDM system principles.
  • A high level of manufacturing knowledge to ensure that the best methods are utilised by the team
