GSK's Manufacturing Site at Ware has an opportunity available for a Shift Co-Ordinator in our Micronising facility.

The Micronising team is responsible for performing all tasks associated with particle size reduction techniques (typically performed on active ingredients; APIs) for onward use in the manufacturing process.


Reporting to a Production Team Leader you will work as a flexible, motivated member of the Micronising team, contributing to the team's objectives (of satisfying Customer Service, Safety, Cost and Quality targets) ensuring smooth & efficient operation of the Micronising facility working in a GMP environment.

You will be responsible for deploying available staff in a team of 8 members, all the time creating and maintaining a 'Quality' and 'Environment, Health & Safety (EHS)' culture (ensuring that the facility is always compliant and audit ready).


Responsibilities include:


  • Accountability for the functional operation and record measures for the area and report daily on key metrics to Micronising Team Leaders highlighting any deviations and reasons. Following through on resulting actions in a timely fashion
  • First line response and investigator to deviations
  • Supporting change and continuous improvement projects for Warehousing, Distribution and Production Streams
  • Participating in Performance Management processes (GPS), problem solving, standard work/5S and improvement activities
  • Ensuring accurate and relevant information clearly communicated at Shift Handovers.
  • Resource management across the Warehouse aiding efficiency in all areas.
  • Working with the Warehouse Team Leaders to continuously improve the capability of the team.
  • Being highly visible during times in the shift when there is more risk for issues, providing guidance and resolving problems as they arise.
  • To be the Micronising responsible person (out of office hours and weekends if required).

Shift Pattern:

This role is a shift role which currently operates on Double-Days (8-hour shifts; circa 6:00 to 14:00 (earlies) and 14:00 to 22:00 (lates) - alternating weeks.

However, please be aware that as the Shift Co-Ordinator you will need to be flexible.

Up to 50% of hours worked are outside normal hours, requiring a high degree of self-reliance and ability to assess the impact of non-standard safety and/or quality events.


About You:


As this role is multi-faceted and includes a high-level of responsibility, you must be a flexible and participative in your management style.

You will be able to demonstrate how your management approach will empower your team by involving them in decision making, objective setting and performance evaluation and improvement processes.

You will be a self-motivated individual who has experience of working in a complex manufacturing site.

You will be able to demonstrate the ability and the willingness to step up or down as required to provide day-to-day cover and support to your team (including your peer-group and your line-manager as required).

You will have experience in managing deviations and compliance within your area. Ideally you will have worked in a highly regulated-industry.


About Ware Manufacturing Site:

Medicines at Ware are presented as either Respiratory devices or in Oral Solid Dose form.

The site holds a unique position in our network as the only site responsible for launching the company's pipeline of new medicines in these dose forms, many of which are life saving medicines.

A series of investments in new state-of-the-art equipment are being made that will support the delivery of a record number of new products.

This must be achieved whilst consistently delivering outstanding quality, service and value to our patients.
