WORKING CONTEXT


Oxford Products Ltd was established in 1973 and has grown its business in the motorcycle and cycle market significantly since then, winning many awards along the way.

It has a comprehensive range of branded parts and accessories from locks to luggage.


The role of the Junior Compliance Assistant is to provide support to the Compliance Manager with the company's global facilitation and regulation of product safety, product compliance and suitability for purpose across the full product range.

To be instrumental in the capture, collation and governance of all technical documentation relevant to the OXFORD product range.

Respond to product safety issues raised either internally or externally.

They will be responsible for data gathering information and certification relating to the product, inspection of the product and will advise upon suitable resolutions of any product issues with marketing, product development and the buyers.


MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Providing specialist guidance and support to all areas of the business on all matters related to quality, compliance and safety
  • Collation of new and historical product compliance certification. Keeping up to date with the latest regulations that affect the OXFORD product ranges and take appropriate action to ensure OXFORD remains compliant
  • Preparation and maintenance of product technical files for CE marking
  • Take an active approach with our rapidly increasing waste packaging obligations to include plastic packaging tax (PPT) and extended producer responsibility (EPR)
  • Carry out risk assessments and fit for purpose testing on products to ensure they meet the required standards, are safe for sale and good quality
  • Work with marketing, NPD and the buyers to resolve product quality issues
  • Fully assess all highrisk Oxford branded products, recording testing requirements, ensuring that all trade and export sku's are fully tested
  • Carry out a detailed exploration and review of the compliance management shared drive data and make recommendations on how to improve
  • Develop a testing database giving selfservice access to all areas of the business for test certificates, declarations of conformities, SDS's etc.
  • Full involvement at the concept stage of all Oxford branded products in an advisory capacity to ensure that all potential risks, testing and packaging requirements are captured and that technical specifications and product creation forms have covered all recommendations
  • Full up to date understanding of all product labeling requirements, keeping supplier advisory documentation up to date and available to the buyers
  • Monthly reporting demonstrating progress against key objectives and KPI's
  • Ongoing process improvement
  • Review and collation of supplier audit and sustainability questionnaires
IMPACT & INFLUENCE

The Junior Compliance Assistant reports directly to the Compliance Manager.

OXFORD is continuing to grow rapidly and the Product Development Team needs to ensure that it continues to be able to support the company's objectives through ensuring a high level of safety and quality backed up by all mandatory product standards and legislation.


In order to ensure reduced costs and product availability, a programme is underway of negotiation with key suppliers and resourcing products globally however it is also essential that conformance to product quality and safety is maintained.


The diverse range of products offered by OXFORD is purchased from more than 100 suppliers and the volatile seasonal demand means that responding quickly to change is a prerequisite for success.

It is essential that the Junior Compliance Assistant demonstrates enthusiasm and is self-motivated, setting and delivering against their own tight deadlines, as they will have to identify their own opportunities and ensure full completion of all initiatives.

  • Strong interest in regulatory affairs, regulations, guidance's required in the automotive/motorcycling/cycling industry
  • Confident use of Microsoft office
  • GCSE's & A levels
  • External quality, auditing, sustainability courses
  • Work experience in a similar product capacity
  • Business studies, economics, manufacturing, finance qualification
