The size and complexity of Shell Trading & Supply (T&S) has increased substantially over the past few years and the regulatory environment, particularly for Energy Trading, continues to evolve.

To remain successful, we continue to build and accelerate the capabilities of the T&S Risk Function, strengthening the organisation from a people, process, data, and systems perspective in both the first and second lines of defence.


Risk Governance, Process, and Controls (RGP&C) is a relatively new team, focused on managing the overall operational risk that exists within the Risk function, monitoring our resource efficiency and supporting communications.


As part of RGP&C, the Risk Secretariat Solutions Specialist will face off internally across Risk, providing effective strategies and solutions for control, collection, consolidation and delivery of Management Reports, commentary, data, and insight.

Applicants should expect a wide-ranging remit entailing a variety of tasks and responsibilities., These will include technical innovation to support the end-to-end creation, maintenance, and delivery of Business Intelligence.


What's the role?
Reporting to the Risk Governance Secretariat, your primary stakeholders will be the other members of RGP&C.

The role will also interface with T&S information suppliers in Finance, HR and Operational risk and the members of the Risk Leadership Team.

Day to day activities will support signposting and reporting on the effectiveness of risk management


More specific responsibilities include:

  • Continued development of the Risk SharePoint site. To ensure content remains current and dynamic, staying "on brand" and providing helpful signposting
  • Build & maintenance of overall risk level dashboard & associated KPIs.
  • Support the compilation and production of materials for senior level risk discussions (briefing packs, PowerPoint material etc)
  • Issue management proactive monitoring and analysis
  • Special purpose business tasks as required

What we need from you?
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented development specialist to join our team. SharePoint management & development will be essential in addition to BI automation and enhancement in Excel, PowerBI etc. Creative and advanced written and visual presentation skills (Word, Powerpoint) would be also required.


Your experience should also demonstrate hands-on process/solutions innovation and development, providing clear evidence of technical aptitude, excellent problem-solving capabilities, a pro-active attitude, and a learner mindset.


Delivery focused, you'll be able to show your resiliency when working under pressure and be able to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.

Previous experience of operational risk management would be beneficial but is not essential and there will ample opportunity to learn about risk management whilst collaborating across the team.

It will also be nice to have the following skillset:

  • Knowledge of best practices for data management and governance
  • Strong communication skills, confidence to speak up and ability to form effective relationships
