HOUSEKEEPER

JOB DESCRIPTION
Farnborough Hill is looking to recruit three experienced Housekeepers to enhance our dedicated and professional Housekeeping Department.

The School is housed in the historic home of the Empress Eugenie of France to which much purpose-built school accommodation has been added.

The School has in-house Housekeeping and Catering Departments which are supplemented by some contractual support. The role reports to the Head of Housekeeping.


Vacancy One (one person) - 20 hours per week, Monday to Friday 6.00 to 10.00 am (7.00 to 11.00 am during School holidays).


Vacancy Two (two people) - 10 hours per week, Monday to Friday 6.00 to 8.00 pm (hours will need to be completed during the day during School holidays).

There may be some flexibility with these hours.


These are the core hours, however, given the nature of a School there may be times when additional hours are available.

Compensating time off or additional pay will be provided; as appropriate.

The School has an in-house Housekeeping Department which is supplemented by some contractual support. The role reports to the Head of Housekeeping.


Main Duties:


  • Work as part of a team to perform a variety of regular and oneoff cleaning tasks and duties
  • Maintain high standards when undertaking cleaning duties in order to ensure that rooms and surrounding areas present well at all times
  • Be responsible for a particular area of the School and clean that area to the frequency and standards set out
  • When required, contribute to major/emergency cleaning tasks such as deep cleaning and cleaning in case of a medical outbreak
  • Empty and clean bins; removing waste to designated area, including the separation of waste, ie recycling
  • Clean internal glass and internal and external door glass, where practical
  • Where appropriate, ensure windows and doors are closed and lights switched off
  • Use only the approved cleaning materials, economically and appropriately, in accordance with manufacturer's printed instructions and COSHH regulations.
  • Report cleaning supplies requirements and stock levels to the Head of Housekeeping on a timely basis
  • Use electrical and mechanical equipment, floor polishers etc after appropriate training
  • Ensure that tools and equipment are in good working order, reporting any faults to the Head of Housekeeping
  • Ensure that all Health and Safety policies and COSHH Regulations are adhered to when using equipment and cleaning chemicals
  • Report all health and safety concerns identified during the course of work to the Head of Housekeeping
  • Report all maintenance concerns identified during the course of work to the Head of Housekeeping
  • Maintaining a professional appearance, uniform being worn at all times and kept in a clean and tidy condition. Health and Safety
  • Participant in relevant staff meetings and training courses as identified and agreed

  • Salary: £9.60 per hour
  • Annual holiday: Prorata of five weeks plus statutory bank holidays

  • Able to communicate well with colleagues and staff
  • Punctual, dependable, and able to manage time effectively to prioritise and complete tasks to a high level
  • Skilled to be able to work both alone and within a team to achieve specified standards

The following is essential:

  • Enhanced DBS Clearance prior to start of appointment

The following is highly desirable:

  • Previous experience within a Housekeeping Department
  • Recent experience working in an environment that involves young people
