Voluntary Action East Renfrewshire SCIO help local people, groups and organisations to work together to shape their communities.
We are currently working closely with the local Carers Centre to deliver a pilot initiative looking at supporting Carers to have a short break from their caring role through a sitter service, time banking volunteer roles or a combination of both.
About the role:
The main purpose of the Volunteer Coordinator role is to support the delivery of a pilot project developing sustainable volunteering to provide short breaks for carers in East Renfrewshire.
As Volunteering Coordinator, your role will be key to the success of the delivery of this pilot, bringing a people-centred approach to develop a better experience for carers, cared for individuals and volunteers.
Key tasks:
- Recruit, interview, match, provide support and supervision to volunteers
- Deliver volunteer training, ongoing monitoring and evaluation of the programme
- Actively promote the project and the work of Voluntary Action and Carers Centre in East Renfrewshire and in other relevant local and national networks
- Work to reduce the social isolation of carers and individuals with support needs
- Encourage volunteers and carers to participate in events that ensure their views and interests are represented
- Liaising with the local Carers Centre to assess referrals and determine support required
- Work with the staff team to maintain appropriate administrative systems to ensure the efficient and effective management and evaluation of the programme
- Ensure the referred person is receiving appropriate support through followup conversations
- Report any concerns in a timely manner internally and/or the Carers Centre
Person Specification
Experience (Desirable)
Experience of supporting volunteers or people management background
Experience of working in or with the voluntary sector
Skills and Abilities
Good understanding of issues affecting carers
Great understanding of volunteering and its principles
Ability to work closely with people and manage relationships
Confidence to proactively engage with people and organisations in a variety of settings
Ability to offer support and training to individuals and partner organisations
Confidence to use office technology and software, e.g., Teams, MS Office, Outlook
Confidence to use social media to engage and promote the programme
Well-developed team working skills, as well as an ability to work autonomously
Good organisational skills
Ability to work in a confidential manner

£20,087.00 per year
