Purchasing Co-ordinator (Maternity Cover)

Job Summary


As a Purchasing Coordinator you will be responsible for assisting the purchasing team in sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing high-quality raw materials and packaging materials.

You will work closely with suppliers to ensure timely delivery and maintain accurate inventory levels. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Source and negotiate pricing and terms with suppliers for raw materials and packaging materials.
  • Effectively establish and manage pricing quotes and lead times and liaise with the sales and production team communicating regularly.
  • Ensure the product catalogue sales pricing is kept up to date with new delivery prices.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of purchasing strategies to optimize cost, quality, and delivery.
  • Create and maintain purchase orders and ensure accurate and timely delivery of goods.
  • Monitor inventory levels and work with the production team to ensure adequate stock levels.
  • Resolve any discrepancies or issues with suppliers, including quality or delivery problems.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to purchasing activities.
  • Participate in supplier evaluations and audits to ensure compliance with company standards and policies.
  • Collaborate with crossfunctional teams, including production, quality assurance, and finance, to ensure smooth operations.
  • Stay informed about market trends, pricing, and new suppliers in the industry and support the company in understanding customer needs for future product development.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining competitor analysis documents to support product development and catalogue maintenance.
  • Get involved in new product development projects, from product sourcing to launch.
  • Any other tasks as agreed by line manager

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in purchasing, preferably in the food industry.
  • Strong negotiation skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships with suppliers.
  • Excellent analytical and problemsolving skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and ERP systems.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of food safety and quality standards is a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree advantageous.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Ensure all procedures are carried out in accordance with the company's BRC and ISO accreditations.
  • Ensure GDPR requirements are adhered to and always considered.
  • Ensure that the company values are always considered and, in all actions, both internally and externally.
  • Coordinate own workload to ensure that workflow is maintained and agreed service levels are met.
  • Support with responsibilities of other staff members in their absence or during peak periods.
  • Represent the company at trade and retail shows when necessary.

From £20,000.00 per year
