Purchasing Co-ordinator (Maternity Cover)

Job Summary
As a Purchasing Coordinator you will be responsible for assisting the purchasing team in sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing high-quality raw materials and packaging materials.
Key Responsibilities
- Source and negotiate pricing and terms with suppliers for raw materials and packaging materials.
- Effectively establish and manage pricing quotes and lead times and liaise with the sales and production team communicating regularly.
- Ensure the product catalogue sales pricing is kept up to date with new delivery prices.
- Assist in the development and implementation of purchasing strategies to optimize cost, quality, and delivery.
- Create and maintain purchase orders and ensure accurate and timely delivery of goods.
- Monitor inventory levels and work with the production team to ensure adequate stock levels.
- Resolve any discrepancies or issues with suppliers, including quality or delivery problems.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to purchasing activities.
- Participate in supplier evaluations and audits to ensure compliance with company standards and policies.
- Collaborate with crossfunctional teams, including production, quality assurance, and finance, to ensure smooth operations.
- Stay informed about market trends, pricing, and new suppliers in the industry and support the company in understanding customer needs for future product development.
- Assist in developing and maintaining competitor analysis documents to support product development and catalogue maintenance.
- Get involved in new product development projects, from product sourcing to launch.
- Any other tasks as agreed by line manager
Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in purchasing, preferably in the food industry.
- Strong negotiation skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships with suppliers.
- Excellent analytical and problemsolving skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and ERP systems.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of food safety and quality standards is a plus.
- Bachelor's degree advantageous.
Additional Responsibilities
- Ensure all procedures are carried out in accordance with the company's BRC and ISO accreditations.
- Ensure GDPR requirements are adhered to and always considered.
- Ensure that the company values are always considered and, in all actions, both internally and externally.
- Coordinate own workload to ensure that workflow is maintained and agreed service levels are met.
- Support with responsibilities of other staff members in their absence or during peak periods.
- Represent the company at trade and retail shows when necessary.
