As an Apprentice in Quality Assurance your role is provide independent oversight, advice and assistance to all areas of the Aerospace business to allow us to deliver our objectives to our customers efficiently while meeting all of our external and internal requirements.


Duties of a Quality Assurance Apprentice:

  • Attend and engage with training, including exams and 1-2-1 meetings with your tutors/assessors
  • Manage your time effectively to complete all coursework, assignments and exams required to achieve the apprenticeship
  • Reflect on your own practice and experiences and take any feedback onboard
  • Learning, understanding and supporting the Company internal audit programme, providing assurance that the system is in compliance with all relevant standards and requirements.
  • Learning about different audit techniques in both Operational and Business Support functions
  • Assisting in Supplier Assessments and performance monitoring
  • Supporting product, process, capability, compliance, patrol or supplier audits as required.
  • Supporting maintenance of the QPulse nonconformance system, including root cause confirmation, verification and effectiveness activities.
  • Learning and carrying out investigations with the use of Quality tools and techniques (such as Root Cause Analysis Ishikawa)
  • Supporting Product Safety and Error Management investigations
  • Maintaining suitable records and reports to support monthly KPI / metrics
  • Supporting Continuous Improvement activities both within the department and in the Operations areas
  • Supporting nonconformance owners through facilitation and deployment of problem solving tools and skills.
  • Supporting the management the QA Authorisation database and the interface with other databases (eg Workday / IFS)
  • Assisting in the update and control of the Document Management system via QPulse
  • Delivering QA Induction and other QA presentations as required.
  • Liaising with Engineering and Operational apprentices on their Quality rotations
  • Reviewing and understanding regulation changes and their implications to Engineering, Operations, Airport etc
  • Supporting manufacturing product special process reviews
  • Providing support and guidance on quality related matters across the business as required.
  • Perform other duties as defined by the QA Manager
The Apprenticeship

Your apprenticeship will be delivered by one of our partner training providers.

As an Apprentice in Quality Assurance working in our Aerospace business you will be following the Level 4 Quality Practitioner Apprenticeship Standard.

The programme will be 18 months and you will work towards developing the knowledge, skills and behaviours required through a range of workshop training, classroom sessions and on the job learning.

Not only will you develop your technical skills you will also have the opportunity to develop the behaviours needed to set the foundation for your future career.

You will be supported every step of the way by our instructors, mentors, line managers and fellow apprentices.

On top of what you will learn with the training provider you will also get internal experience and training including:

  • Internal audit training and experience
  • Understanding of Human Factors and Just Culture
  • Practical knowledge of ISO 9001 / AS9100 / AS9110
  • Basic knowledge of a wide range of aerospace regulations (Design and Engineering, Airport Operations, Military Flying, Manufacturing and Civil & Military Maintenance and repair
