Transport Operator

Salary:

Reed Procurement & Supply Chain are recruiting for a Freight transportation company with nearly 30 years' experience in the industry who are looking for an experienced transport operator to join their close-knit team.

What is involved?

  • Routing and planning of own vehicles and dedicated subcontracted haulage suppliers with consideration for delivery time, driving hour's legislation and vehicle operating restrictions.
  • Booking VBS slots in accordance with work requirements
  • Inputting data on the inhouse system to create job files
  • On call for out of hours and weekends for own vehicles and suppliers.
  • Revenue rating customer jobs and cost rating haulage supplier's work
  • Printing delivery notes
  • Spot subcontracting work to other haulage suppliers
  • General office admin as deemed necessary by Line Manager
  • Liaison with customers to ascertain their requirements, booking of suitable transport, payment of charges and final delivery arrangements
Key Skills Needed

  • Minimum of two years' experience in the routing of containers
  • Transport experience is a necessity
  • The ability to be meticulous and consistent with close attention to detail
  • Computer literate with previous knowledge of Destin8 and the port VBS system
  • The ability to work under pressure is essential
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Flexible and adaptable with an excellent attitude to Customer Service
