An exciting and rewarding opportunity has arisen to join the Gastroenterology and Hepatology team within the surgery division at NUH as a Patient Pathway Administrator.

Main duties of the job

As a PPA within the Gastro and Hep team you will be responsible for typing clinical and non clinical letters, ensuring they are reviewed in a timely manner and monitoring results.


The post holder will be working as part of a larger administrative team, and liaising with colleagues and patients alike.


The role holder will work closely with the Specialty PA's and the Deputy Service Manager to help ensure local and national targets are met.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Ensuring letters are typed accurately and efficiently

Working closely with PA's and consultant to ensure letters are authorised in a timely manner

Providing a thorough administrative outpatient service to patients

Use judgement and initiative to prioritise the importance/urgency of particular requests within defined guidelines

Ability to exchange sensitive or contentious information with diplomacy and in a confidential manner.


Liaising with PA's regarding appointments and necessary important clinical information to ensure patients are seen on their pathway without delay.

To undertake other specialty specific duties in accordance with Trust policies and procedures to facilitate the patient pathway

Ensure RTT patient data quality is accurate at all times


Adapt a flexible attitude to meet the needs of the service, taking into consideration each department's unique specialty and the subsequent requirements of such specialist services.

Promote an open friendly working environment

Adhere to Trust policies and procedures relevant to your position.

Person specification

Training and Qualifications

Essential criteria

  • 5 GCSE's or equivalent C or above must include English
  • Typing experience or proven admin experience is essential for this post
  • Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Word/Excel experience (or an understanding of)
Desirable criteria

Experience & Communication

Essential criteria

  • Experience in using Microsoft Office and Outlook
  • Experience in completing letters, forms, reports and tables using computerised technology
  • Previous experience within a similar admin role
Desirable criteria

  • Previous NHS Experience
  • Knowledge of 18 week and Cancer targets / Medical Terminology

Salary:
The quoted salary will be on a pro rata basis for part time workers.
