HR Assistant to enhance our team based at our
Service Headquarters in
Exeter. You'll join us on a
full time, permanent basis. and in return you will receive a competitive salary of
£ £26421 per annum.

About the role:


As our
HR Assistant, you will provide a HR administration and support service ensuring that actions related to the employee life cycle are processed in a timely manner and that employee records are accurately and promptly maintained.

Key responsibilities of the HR Assistant:


  • To be responsible for maintaining and updating essential spreadsheets, databases, and systems, in accordance with the Data Protection Act if applicable, including inputting and processing data, preparing, analysing and distributing reports and information and taking follow up action where necessary, in a timely manner.
  • To support the departments goals and objectives, in accordance with DSFRS policies and procedures and participate in a teambased environment.
  • To coach new and temporary members of administration staff, as required.
  • To liaise with other team members within the department, other departments within the service, external agencies and other third party contacts, as and when directed, or when required.
  • To provide clerical and administrative support to other members of the team, including but not exclusive of the following:
  • Administration and clerical duties such as word processing correspondence and/or documents for internal and external recipients either on own initiative or as directed. Using and amending, Service wide standard letters / paragraphs and other media. Dealing with general queries through various media.
  • Diary management, organising and attending meetings, preparing documents prior to meetings, representing the department and/or minute taking.
  • Maintaining professional publications and/or other publications and directories.
  • Photocopying documents and putting into required format.
  • Answering the telephone, dealing with general enquiries, and taking messages.
  • Maintenance of departmental filing and monitoring systems (hard copy and electronic).
  • To undertake on own initiative and/or assist in activities or project work in support of continuous improvement for the department and Service goals and objectives.
  • To perform tasks in a safe manner in accordance with Health and Safety policies and legislation.

What we are looking for in our HR Assistant:


  • Good academic background.
  • Knowledge of basic office systems and procedures.
  • Proven ability to input data electronically in an efficient and accurate manner.
  • Experience of working in a HR administration department
  • Proven skills in communication both written and verbal (good telephone manner especially important).
  • An aptitude for figure work.
  • Proven ability to work to tight deadlines.
  • Good planning, organisational and time management skills.
  • Proven ability to work to a high degree of accuracy.
