Seahorse Paediatric Intensive Care Unit

Band 2 Housekeeper

0.6wte - up to 22.5hrs/week


This is an interesting and exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to join the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit as a Housekeeper.


You will:


  • Work as an integral part of the ward team, being responsible for the coordination of all patient facilities/service.
  • Ensure a clean, safe and comfortable environment and act as a focal point for nonclinical tasks.
  • Coordinate the delivery of catering, cleaning and ward stores
  • Coordinate and oversee minor maintenance and repairs, together with other specified tasks to meet the needs of the ward.
  • Work closely with support services, Facilities Management and other departments as necessary.

Catering:


  • To ensure food meets quality standards, regenerating meals as per policy
  • Encourage and assist patients to order food, where necessary taking into account special needs and medical requirements.
  • Serve meals in conjunction with the nursing team, ensuring patients intake is known and that their dietary needs are met.
  • Ensure people have any nursing staff assistance they require to eat and drink providing such assistance as cutting up food, placing food within reach, encouraging patients to eat.
  • To prepare and serve hot/cot snacks as requested offering a 24 hour snack service
  • Prepare hot/cold beverages, including appropriate trolley/equipment, ensuring they are serviced at the correct temperature.
  • Prepare areas where food and beverages are served/consumed to ensure a patient environment for patients.
  • Ensure all equipment used in preparation, regeneration, serving, and consuming food and beverages is washed and clean, taking responsibility for the ward kitchen
  • Ensure refrigerated food is labelled and store correctly as per policy.
  • To ensure, in conjunction with ward staff, that discharged and newly admitted patients' meal requirements are acted on, coordinating extra meal requirements that may arise.
