An opportunity has arisen for a Dental Receptionist to join the Community Dental Service in Morecambe, working in the Dental Education Centre.

We provide training for dental students, special care and access dentistry for adults and children. The vacancy is a part time working Monday Tuesday Thursday Friday.


Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is situated on the west coast of Lancashire, and offers a full range of district hospital services and community health services to a population of 1.6 million in Lancashire and South Cumbria.


The Trust provides services to the 440,000 residents of Blackpool, Fylde & Wyre and North Lancashire, as well as specialist tertiary care for Cardiac and Haematology services across the wider region.


We employ more than 6,500 staff, with a turnover in excess of £370m in 2014/2015 and have approximately 900 beds.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Undertake reception duties to include dealing with members of the public both in person and on the telephone.
  • Ensure accurate messages are taken and relayed to appropriate members of staff.
  • Arrange appointments for patients via SOEL Health software
  • Responsibility for issuing petty cash and collating information for reimbursement.
  • Ordering of stationery supplies and sundries for the Dental Centres via the Runcorn supplies system.
  • Undertake both routine and nonroutine audio and copy typing of letters, memos, etc using SOEL Health and Microsoft Office computer software. This requires theoretical and practical knowledge built up over a period of time.
  • Receive and distribute internal and external mail to relevant service.
  • File and retrieve records within the Dental Department filing system and daytoday efficient maintenance.
  • Act as a point of contact for the Trust's works department in respect of building repairs and maintenance and ensuring liaison with the Dental Administrator where necessary.
  • Other office duties to include photocopying, faxing and use of other office equipment.
  • Undertake any such appropriate duties or responsibilities as directed by your line manager.

Where necessary relevant training in the operation of new or unfamiliar equipment, software ore procedures will be provided or arranged.


CONFIDENTIALITY


In the course of your duties you may have access to confidential information about patients, staff or health service business.

On no account must such information be divulged to anyone who is not authorised to receive it. Confidentiality of information must be preserved at all times whether at or away from work. The Trust has in place a 'Whistleblowers Policy' for staff wishing to express concerns.

DATA PROTECTION/FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACTS


Carry out any requirements within the duties applicable to the Data Protection Act, 1998 and the Freedom of Information Act 2000.

HEALTH AND SAFETY AT WORK ACT, 1974


Observe all responsibilities and carry out all duties, whether general to all employees or specific to the post, relating to Health and Safety in accordance with the Trust and Departmental Safety Policies and any statutory requirements.


INFECTION PREVENTION AND CONTROL
Infection prevention and control is the responsibility of all Trust staff.

All duties relating to the post must be carried out in accordance with the Trust hand hygiene and infection control polices and procedures.

OUTSIDE EMPLOYMENT/OUTSIDE INTERESTS


If you have other work or outside interest, this must not conflict with your duties and responsibilities or your attendance for work as an employee of this Trust.


It is a condition of appointment that you must inform your manager before taking up post of any private practice, work for outside agencies or other employers, other work for this Trust (including bank work), voluntary work or outside interest you have or propose to have.

This is to ensure there is no question of it creating a 'conflict of interest' with your NHS duties.

You must also therefore seek your manager's approval before taking on any such other work or outside interest at any time after entering the Trust's employment.


WORKING TIME DIRECTIVE
You are required to comply with the regulations governing working time and to any locally agreed associated arrangements.

CLINICAL NEGLIGENCE (CLINICAL POST HOLDERS ONLY)

NHS Indemnity will cover that part of your work, which results from your contract of employment.
