We're seeking an
NPD Technologist to join our team, based at our chocolate factory in Fakenham, Norfolk. This is a brilliant role for all foodies who are interested in the technical aspects of product development.

You will work within our innovative NPD team, supporting administrative duties which aid the development of our delicious new chocolate products under Kinnerton brands and for our retail customers.


  • This role is full time, Monday
  • Friday, 08:30 16:30 per day._

Responsibilities:


  • Development and delivery to market of new products (using existing or new equipment) in line with Kinnerton strategy and project brief as driven by the Innovation and Marketing Teams or Third-Party Customers as required.
  • Ensure product being developed is fit for factory by working with NPD colleagues and the operations and technical teams to prepare submissions for relevant Gate meetings in a timely and accurate way.
  • Ensure all relevant paperwork is completed fully and accurately ahead of submissions to the customer.
  • Write and obtain agreement from the business (and where relevant customers) for QAS and QCP documents.
  • Add product information to the NPD system in a timely and accurate way to support the implementation of new products to the business.
  • Supply timely and accurate information for and attend Pre-Product Launch Meetings to support the handover of new products to the operations team.
  • Attending critical product launches to ensure that the product is manufactured to specification.
  • Maintain a good understanding of the relevant customer requirements to allow right firsttime development including ingredients, processes and provision of information, for example via submissions documents.
  • Proactively gain / maintain a clear understanding and knowledge of Kinnerton Fakenham manufacturing process capability.
  • Gain / maintain a broad understanding of the confectionery technology marketplace.
  • Ensure HACCP is considered in all development.
  • Ensure excellent communication across the business both internally and externally.
  • Support the Process Technologist to ensure new products are trialed where required and adhere to the trial procedure. Capture data and samples from trials and analyse the information and present the information at the Post Trial Meeting.
  • Prepare and send samples in collaboration with the Technologist chef as required.
  • In collaboration with the Technologist Chef brief any new raw materials required to the Product Sourcing Buyer in line with customer requirements.
  • Where applicable send samples for nutrition analysis and interpret and communicate the results.
  • In collaboration with the Technologist Chef ensure accurate Shelflife data is available for all new products.
  • Support the Technologist Chef as required to ensure any new or amended recipes are communicated to the Costings Manager.
  • Supports colleagues within the team as and when required.

Qualifications:

  • Food Science/Food Technology Degree or equivalent and relevant experience within the food industry, preferably in an NPD role.
  • Numerate and Literate
  • Organised, methodical and detail conscious.
  • Competent with excel. Quick and willing to learn new software systems such as ERP system and Recipe Management systems.
  • Able to work to tight timelines.
  • Good interpersonal, resource and project management skills.
  • Excellent communications skills.
  • Good team worker, understanding and tolerant of other team members shared requirements and priorities.
  • Adaptable to the varied requirements of the role including flexibility around working hours to attend trials and product launches.
  • High energy levels will be required to make this role a success.
