Our active 30-year-old client, who has an ABI and Ataxia, is looking for an experienced Support Worker who shares his love of bike riding, swimming and socialising, you would also be a fellow dog lover to join our client on regular dog walks.

Joining a close-knit team, you will play a vital role in assisting our client to be as independent as possible.

The Role/Client:

  • Our client lives in his own property with his own dog which is next door to his mother and siblings who play an active role in his life.
  • You will be part of a small care team helping to support our client's rehabilitation whilst helping him manage his acute anxiety and fatigue which impacts on his Mental Health. As you will understand, his ABI can impact on his selfawareness/environment, and this sometimes results in nonviolent but verbally reactive behaviour so experience with care in MH would be advantageous.
  • Our client can walk independently however, he is prone to occasional falls so he may require low level mobility support at times of diminished capability.
  • You will assist our client in all aspects of his life including meal preparation, following physiotherapy plans/exercise, and taking him out in his vehicle to enable him to enjoy leisure activities such as bike riding, swimming and socializing with his friends.
  • You will be supportive and proactively encourage our client to try out new activities. No personal care is required in this role.

About You:

  • You will ideally have one year's experience with mental health and ABI care.
  • You will be a caring and friendly individual who is also proactive in encouraging our client to try out new leisure experiences whilst providing support and build our client's confidence. You will also share our client' good sense of humour.
  • You will be vigilant in ensuring that our client undertakes his regular exercise and follow his physiotherapy plans. Full training will be provided, and you will be supported by a Case Manager and the wider team.
  • You will be a driver with a full UK license, able to drive our client's manual car to enable him to access the community/activities.
  • The family has two friendly dogs so you will be an animal lover with no allergies and understand that part of the role will be to interact with the family pets.

Pay:
£15.00 per hour Weekdays / £17.00 per hour Weekends.

Shifts/Hours:

  • Average of 14 hours per week. Rotas issued on a weekly basis.
  • Wednesday of each week, ideally Saturday & Sunday 09:00 to 16:00 every other week or client would consider Saturday of one week and Sunday of the next week.
