£24,025 - £26,088 p.a inc (Scale 5)

Hours: 36 hours per week, 39 weeks per year (term time plus 5 INSET days)

Thank you for your interest in the role of Work Experience (WEX) Coordinator at West Lea School.

We are seeking a highly organised individual to develop and co-ordinate work experience activities across KS4 and KS5 provision. Our careers plan and programme have been designed to help children and young people to flourish. We are committed to supporting students focusing on the 'preparing for adulthood' (PfA) outcomes.

In particular, this role is instrumental in working towards the PfA outcome of employment as well as the Gatsby benchmarks by providing meaningful experiences of the workplace and insights into the world of work.

The role will involve working closely with staff at all levels in relation to work experience (WEX) activities.

We are a 'values-based' organisation catering for students aged 4-24 with special educational needs and believe in a world where everyone can flourish.

We are seeking a WEX Coordinator who shares our values.

  • Understanding of the benefits of work experience and supported employment practises
  • Knowledge of the Preparing for Adulthood outcomes and Gatsby Benchmarks
  • Understanding of risk assessment processes
  • Understanding of working in a busy working environment often to tight deadlines
  • Knowledge of working with students with SEN
  • Ability to set high quality outcomes and targets for students in line with need
  • High standards of professionalism and confidentiality where appropriate
  • Excellent communications skills
  • Excellent organisation skills and proficient IT user
  • Ability to form trusting relationships with students, parents/carers and other key stakeholders (e.g. employer partners)
  • Ability to develop good working relationships and practices with teams across the school
  • Ability to independently prioritise, problem solve and make decision
  • Ability to effectively forward plan
