Job Title: 2nd Line IT Support Engineer


Location:
Birmingham


Salary:
£200-£220


The 2nd Line IT Support Engineer will be responsible for:

  • Troubleshooting and resolving technical issues, including hardware and software
  • Installing and configuring IT hardware and software
  • Providing technical advice and support to users
  • Ensuring the security of the IT systems and networks
  • Maintaining the IT asset register and keeping up to date records of all IT assets
  • Maintaining the IT helpdesk system and responding to user queries
  • Carrying out system upgrades, patches and other maintenance activities
  • Identifying and escalating system problems
  • Liaising with external suppliers and vendors

Skills and Qualifications:


  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in a 2nd Line IT Support role
  • Knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory and Exchange
  • Experience of Networking (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, VLAN etc.)
  • Knowledge of virtualisation technologies (VMWare, Hyper-V etc.)
  • Experience of Firewalls (Cisco, Check Point etc.)
  • Knowledge of Backup and Disaster Recovery solutions
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent problemsolving, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good time management and organisational skills
  • A proactive and positive attitude
