As a Pupil Support Assistant (PSA), you will work as part of a team supporting children who have additional support needs to access learning under the direction of other members of the team.

You will also provide supervision in the playground during breaks and lunchtimes.

Children and Young People can have a range of needs that are short lived or more long term. These, at different points in their education, may require additional support. You will work with individual children requiring a high level of support and with small groups.

The PSA role is varied and may include supporting children and young people who present with needs which may include:

  • Social and Emotional
  • Learning
  • Communication
  • Physical
  • Personal Care.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and nurturing individual, who has a positive and solution focused attitude to join our team at Invergowrie Primary School.


The ability to work in a team situation is essential and a flexible approach to working with young children is required.

Experience and an interest in working with children with a range of Additional Support Needs is desirable.

A willingness to undertake professional learning relevant to the post is essential.

We are looking for individuals who can demonstrate:

  • A genuine interest in the development of children and their wellbeing.
  • Kindness, empathy, patience and an ability to engage with children and young people.
  • Confidentiality in relation to children, young people and their families.
  • Experience (paid/voluntary) of supporting children and young people with additional support needs.
Previous experience of working within a school setting would be desirable.
