Did you know the Phoenix Group is consistently listed as one of the UK's top employers? Our people uphold our values of responsibility, courage, difference, growth and passion and are at the very heart of the success of our business.

Together, we'll shape a better future

We have an incredible opportunity here at Phoenix Group to join our Capital Management team as a Corporate Actuary.

Who are we?
We want to be the best place that any of our 8,000 colleagues have ever worked.

We're the UK's largest long-term savings and retirement business.

We offer our 13 million customers products across our market-leading brands, including Standard Life, SunLife and ReAssure, with c.£310 billion of assets under administration.

We're a FTSE 100 organisation that is tackling key issues such as transitioning our portfolio to net zero by 2050, and we're not done yet.

The role

In your role as Corporate Actuary you will provide a commercial focus on the Group capital management, ensuring the Life Company and Group balance sheets are optimised to provide the capital and liquidity required to deliver the Group's strategic objectives.

Reporting to the Head of Balance Sheet Management, you will play a fundamental role in Group solvency & financial management, Group capital management actions and Group defined benefit pension scheme oversight.

This will include providing expert advice to our Open division and supporting the production of the Solvency II balance sheet.

What are we looking for?

  • A qualified actuary with a proven track record of meeting challenging objectives within designated timeframes.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, including the ability to communicate technical actuarial concepts to a nontechnical audience.
  • A good working knowledge of a life insurer's Solvency II balance sheet.
  • Effective planning and prioritisation skills, to ensure that competing demands continue to be met within challenging timescales.
  • The ability to work selfsufficiently, with limited direct supervision.
  • A good team player who will make a positive contribution to the working environment and culture of the team.

We want to hire the whole version of you.
We are committed to ensuring that everyone feels accepted and welcome applicants from all backgrounds.

If your experience looks different from what we've advertised and you believe that you can bring value to the role, we'd love to hear from you.

If you require any adjustments to the recruitment process, please let us know so we can help you to be at your best.
