The role

We are looking for a dynamic and forward-thinking professional to play a central role in the coordination, development and delivery of the Council's emergency planning and business continuity arrangements.

You will play a key role in delivering a varied and ambitious programme of activities to ensure the Council is ready to respond and recover from incidents, and able to effectively fulfil its duties under the Civil Contingencies Act 2004.

Location

Whilst the service is primarily based in Laurence House, Catford, SE6 4RU we operate a hybrid approach where you will be required to work both in the office and from home on a regular basis.

You may also be required to work at or from any other buildings/locations from time to time.

What we're looking for
A dynamic, forward-thinking and innovative individual to work in a small but high-profile team.

You will have a well evidenced knowledge of the Civil Contingencies Act, associated guidance and other relevant legislation including the ISO standards for business continuity management.

We're looking for a results-orientated individual with the drive to continually improve our emergency planning, response, and business continuity arrangements, including our assessment against the Resilience Standards for London.

You will have a demonstrable ability in cultivating strong relationships and be able to communicate, influence, and negotiate effectively with internal and external partners at all levels of an organisation.

You will have a proven track record of developing and embedding high quality and robust emergency management arrangements, putting communities at the heart of their design.

You will have a sound understanding of London's arrangements for preparing for, responding to, and recovering from emergencies, and be able to confidently represent the team and Council at external local and regional meetings.

You will have a detailed knowledge of risk assessment and project management and hold a recognised qualification in emergency planning and/or business continuity and/or display the required knowledge through relevant experience.

Being part of an on-call incident response rota is voluntary within this role, although working outside normal working hours may be required dependant on the needs of the service.

In return, we'll offer excellent development opportunities, plus a range of benefits that includes a career average pension scheme, flexible working and the opportunity to make a real difference to our local community.
