The Company

Nigel Wright are currently working with a leading North East Manufacturing business to recruit a Head of Procurement.

The Client will support some hybrid working and the role benefits from an attractive package.

The Opportunity

Part of the UK Senior Leadership Team, the Head of Procurement will take responsibility for both Direct and Indirect Procurement across multiple sites.

Key responsibilities will include:

Management of Direct and Indirect Procurement Teams
Developing and implementing UK Procurement Strategy, global category management responsibility for specific commodities
Identifying and delivering commercial efficiencies/cost reduction and avoidance initiatives in line with budgetary targets
New supplier sourcing and supplier assessment/risk management
Developing and maintaining cross functional relationships within the Senior Leadership Team
Ensuring material availability for Production requirements across multiple sites

About You

The successful Head of Procurement will possess the following skills and attributes:

Strategic procurement experience from within a fast moving, high volume Manufacturing environment essential
categories including raw materials, chemicals, ingredients, packaging advantageous
Broad exposure to indirect procurement beneficial
Strong leadership and people management skills essential experienced in building, guiding and mentoring multisite teams
Procurement experience across both Direct and Indirect advantageous
Excellent negotiation, supplier performance management and influencing skills
Proven track record in identifying and delivering cost reductions and process improvements with a structured approach
Project management skills including strong stakeholder engagement, resilient
Educated to Degree level or equivalent advantageous (CIPS) but not essential
