Description
A Healthcare assistant in operating theatres works as part of the multidisciplinary team. They assist setting up theatres and preparing the theatre and patient for surgery. The HCA assists the theatre practitioners and surgical team during surgical procedures with equipment, instruments and patient care.


Applications are for full time at Heatherwood theatres which consists of 3 weeks of 3 days x 07:30-19:30 and 1 week of 4 days x 07:30-19:30, this equals 150 hours per month.

The theatres are modern, well designed and have the latest equipment. Orthopaedic theatres are busy and efficient and team work is vital to the care of the surgical patient.

The role of the Healthcare assistant in the operating theatres is vital and full training will be given.

Preparation of operating theatres for surgery. Setting up equipment, instruments, inputting data onto computers.

Cleaning and maintaining the theatres and store areas.

Assisting the theatre practitioners during theatre lists.

Assisting in the anaesthetic room prior to surgery.
