Due to the continued growth and success of the business we are looking to recruit a Risk Management Business Analyst to join our credit risk team.

Working in a team of 6 you will report directly into the Chief Risk Officer and support the Risk ManagementTeam with the development of solutions to business problems and to provide analytical insight aiding decision makers to make better decisions.

Working closely with the Chief Risk Officer, you will monitor and report credit, market and operational risk acrossthe business.


The role is based at our Head Office in Fleet, Hampshire and you would be working the hours of 9am - 5pm Monday to Friday with hybrid working as an option.

You will receive a salary of up to £45k, 25 day's holiday, non-contributory pension, private healthcare,life assurance and income protection along with a discretionary annual bonus.

Working for a financial service organisation that specialise in the buy to let sector the key areas of the Risk Management Business Analyst are:

Mortgage Market -work with/aid the Product Development Team:

  • To gain a deeper understanding of the competitive mortgage product landscape within the buy to let mortgage market and regularly report findings back to the Product Development Team,
  • Gain a deeper understanding of how brokers source mortgage products and what product features are important.
Regularly highlight findings to the Product Development Team,

  • Gain an understanding of why brokers select Fleet's products, and what Fleet can do to make its products source better,
  • Develop and maintain a Product Profitability Model, a model that aims to level profitability across mortgage products despite duration, LTV, fees etc.,
  • Monitor the performance of mortgage products against expected outcomes,
  • Develop mortgage product proposals founded on sound data analysis and evidence,
  • Develop and maintain a weekly mortgage market reporting suite that considers changes in mortgage demand across the market, Fleet's relative position, what products are selling and what is not, what Networks and Mortgage Clubs use Fleet etc.,
  • Develop, maintain and regularly report metrics across the mortgage life cycle, metrics such as cancellation and decline rates, conversion rates, prepayment rates, refinancing rates etc.

Credit Risk Measurement & Monitoring -work with Credit Committee to measure and monitor the credit risk the company takes.

  • Measure and report against Credit Risk Appetite set by Fleet's Credit Committee,
  • Gain a deeper understanding of the competitive lending criteria landscape within the buy to let mortgage market.
Regularly report findings back to Credit Committee with a view to change product design decisions,

  • Gain a deeper understanding of why brokers source Fleet's mortgage products on lending criteria with an aim to identify where Fleet has a competitive edge,
  • A constant and ongoing review of the competitive position of Fleet's lending criteria,
  • Monitor and maintain Fleet's Credit Scorecard,
  • Develop lending criteria proposals founded on sound data analysis, relative competitiveness, quantifiable credit risk and sound evidence.

Operational Risk Measurement & Monitoring - work with the Chief Risk Officer and Executive Chief Officer to record, measure and monitor operational risks across the business on the companies Risk Register.

What we are looking for in the successful individual for the Risk Management Business Analyst role is:

  • Knowledge of the intermediary led buy-to-let mortgage industry
  • Good technical knowledge of mortgage products and an understanding of lending criteria
  • Experience of PRA regulations for buytolet mortgage contracts
  • Willingness to develop a deeper understanding of the intermediary mortgage market and intermediary distribution channels
  • External business awareness including an understanding of the UK Lending and/or Financial Services market would be an advantage
  • Holds relevant professional qualification or willingness to study towards.
