Starting salary:
£24,570 per annum

Hours: 37.5 Monday to Friday

The role is varied and will involve supporting the HR & Development Manager in delivering a high level of HR support across all locations and areas of the Charity.

JOB PURPOSE

The role is to support the HR & Development Manager in delivering a high level of HR support across all locations and areas of Redwings.

To take responsibility for functional HR processes relating to areas such as employee relations, retention and performance management.

To assist all other departments by providing advice and guidance in line with Redwings policy and procedure, legal frameworks, and best practice under the guidance of the HR & Development Manager.


SPECIFIC AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY AND TASKS:


Duties:


General Human Resource Activities

  • To provide an advisory service to all Redwings employees on HR policies and procedures.
  • To support Line Managers with HR related matters.
  • Handle any staff welfare concerns including implementing wellbeing action plans and signposting employees to relevant support.
  • To support Redwings values by fostering a positive workplace culture and engage line managers and employees to work within these values.
  • Work with the HR & Development Manager to develop, maintain and review appropriate HR policies and procedures, making sure they are fit for purpose and useable within the Charity and review their effectiveness.
  • Keep information up to date on the HR system 'Cascade' and employee personnel files while following the laws that govern the Data Protection Act.
  • Work closely with the Health & Safety Manager on matters that relate to employee welfare such as employees on amended duties.
  • Work with other key colleagues such as the HR Training & Wellbeing Lead to facilitate Learning and Development initiatives and programmes.
  • Prepare a monthly HR report for the board and any other reports required to identify key HR trends.
  • Guide the HR Administrator as to best practice and help them to carry out HR and training administration.
  • To ensure all new starters receive a comprehensive induction.
  • To review and monitor exit interview feedback and provide monthly statistical information.
  • Process leaver documentation.
  • To support the Work Experience and Apprenticeships programme.
  • Monitor and review all documents & processes to ensure legal compliance and best practice.
  • Monitor and address any changes in employment legislation which impact the Charity.
  • Support family friendly policies such as maternity, paternity and those affected.
  • Process any flexible work requests in a timely manner.
  • Review & monitor Redwings Appraisal system, ensuring employees receive regular Appraisals and support line managers with employee development.
  • Ensure new employees are provided with a valuable probation period, addressing any concerns that are highlighted by line management.
  • Support HR & Development Manager with regard to any planned restructure.
  • Develop & maintain effective partnership with the staff forum and any external agencies such as ACAS, Solicitors, access to work and Occupational Health
  • Work with line managers to identify any absence management issues in line with Redwings policy and procedure, including lateness management and longterm absence.

Recruitment and Advertising

  • To support the Senior HR Coordinator with all aspects of recruitment.
  • Ensure legally binding contracts of employment.
  • Process any variations to contract arising from transfers or promotion.

Discipline and Grievance

  • Carry out Grievance and Disciplinary investigations, completing the associated paperwork and making any relevant recommendations upon conclusion.
  • Assist with chairing certain Disciplinary or Grievance actions / hearings where agreed with the HR & Development Manager.
  • Advise other Investigating Officers on policy, law, and best practice with regard to disciplinary matters.

Projects

  • To take active involvement in direct HR projects and those that have links with the HRM function.
  • Work on projects in line with HR needs.
  • To assist with the delivery of any new projects, to include presentation delivery deemed necessary.
  • Design and coordinate HR Roadshows
  • Assist the HR & Development Manager with projects to improve wellbeing and welfare in the workplace.
