The role
We are looking for an exceptional person to work for Cllr Peter Mason, Leader of Ealing Council.


This exciting role is part of a team designed to operate at the heart of the Council's decision making and support the Leader to work effectively with officers and partners to deliver his vision for the borough.


The role will provide comprehensive, high level, confidential executive support to the Leader, including proactive support to the Leader in support of the effective delivery of the Council's strategic priorities, building and maintaining effective key lines of communication with senior key stakeholders policy research and high level administrative support to the Leader, ensuring work is prioritised and processed efficiently.


This role will work closely with other members of the Cabinet Office team to help the Leader and Cabinet deliver together.

You will also work closely with services at both senior and administrative levels and with policy and communications colleagues.

You will engage with external stakeholders on behalf of the Leader and also to residents, so strong communication skills are essential.


About you


You will bring experience working in a similar high profile executive support environment and be comfortable with working to short deadlines in a fast-moving team.

You will be comfortable providing administrative support but also be able to support the Leader by understanding his and the Council's priorities and assisting him in policy research.

You will ideally have experience working in local government at a similar level or if not, demonstrate a thorough understanding of its functions and the issues affecting it.


You will be an excellent communicator both verbally and in writing and able to build strong working relationships with a wide range of colleagues and stakeholders to help ensure that the Leader and Cabinet's priorities are understood, they are well informed, and issues are identified and responded to effectively.

You will need to demonstrate an in depth understanding of political and operational sensitivities in supporting the Leader.

You will be interested and motivated by improving outcomes for local people.
