Description

Oxford Nanopore Technologies is headquartered at the Oxford Science Park outside Oxford, UK, with satellite offices and a commercial presence in many global locations across the US, APAC and Europe.

Oxford Nanopore's sequencing platform is the only technology that offers real-time analysis, in fully scalable formats from pocket to population scale, that can analyse native DNA or RNA and sequence any length of fragment to achieve short to ultra-longread lengths.

Our goal is to enable the analysis of any living thing, by anyone, anywhere

We are looking for experienced biophysicist to play a key role in the development of a new line of devices, aimed at point of care use.

Reporting to the Associate Director of Liquid Biopsy Platforms, you will focus on developing and characterising analytetransport methods, for our new sample-to-answer platforms.

The Details...

The purpose of our liquid biopsy platforms is to enable the analysis of samples directly from complex biological fluids, such as blood and saliva.

This powerful capability will allow the adoption of our nanopore sensing technology by a much broader group ofhealth care professionals, eventually leading to a line of consumer products.

As part of the team, you will play a leading role in the development of flowcell-integrated processes to deliver analytes to our nanopore sensor array.

This will require close collaborationwith a highly multidisciplinary team of scientists and engineers.

Duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Lead the characterisation and validation of biophysical processes
  • Demonstrate high standards of experimental work, analytical skill, and creative problemsolving ability.
  • Provide daily guidance to more junior members of the team.
  • Data analysis and performance evaluation.
  • Clear and thorough reporting and communication of findings.
What We're Looking For...
A PhD (or equivalent experience) in Biophysics, Biochemistry or related disciplines is required. Experience in resolving fluidic and mass transport problems by finite elements means. Knowledge of electrophoretic processes, fluid dynamics, electrochemistry and/ormolecular biology will be a bonus. Familiarity with DNA sequencing is highly desirable. Demonstrable industry/post-doctoral experience is preferred.

We will expect you to be an enthusiastic individual with a creative approach to problem solving and excellent attention to detail.

You will be able to work with a high degree of autonomy, as well as in close collaboration with others.
