Description

To provide a cleaning service to the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology (LMB).

Main duties/ Key responsibilities:

Empty bins & replace liners
Vacuum/sweep floors
Damp mop floors
Polishing
Cleaning sanitary areas
Dusting
Glass cleaning
Waste recycling
Cleaning of toilet areas & kitchenettes
Topping up of hand towel dispensers & soap dispensers
Providing cover for sickness & holiday

To ensure that the areas allocated are kept to a very high standard of cleanliness and the scientific and administrative staff are able to work in a clean and safe environment.

All waste is to be segregated and placed in the correct receptacle for recycling.

Working relationships:

You will be working for the Domestic Services Manager and/or the Domestic Services Supervisor, as part of the LMB Operations Group.

Education / qualifications / training required:

Essential:_
General standard of education.
Willingness to undertake on the job training

Previous work experience required:

Desirable:_ Previous cleaning experience

Knowledge and experience:

Desirable:_ Knowledge of cleaning techniques.

Essential:_
Ability to work as part of a team.
Motivated individual with a strong desire for self and team development.
Ability to follow and understand verbal and written instruction and to discuss issues with the supervisor.
