Role Overview
We are looking for a
Head of Corporate Strategy to join our fantastic Communications, Digital & Corporate Strategy division.

This experienced leader will play a crucial role in leading on the development of the Group's corporate strategy, action plan, and business planning and performance framework, and to manage the overall Corporate Strategy function.


Key responsibilities:


  • Corporate Strategy & Plan_
Lead on the ongoing development of the Group's Corporate Strategy, including:

  • Supporting the Executive Management Team to identify and coordinate the development and review of their strategic priorities and goals/targets
  • Developing and supporting new and existing areas of Corporate Strategy that help to support business growth, change, improvement and legal/regulatory compliance
  • Ensuring plans and goals proposed by the business are embedded, challenged and aligned with the Corporate Strategy
  • Ensuring a good understanding of the Group's strategic direction and plans across the organisation, working with directors and heads of service.
Lead on the ongoing development of the Group's multi-year Corporate Action Plans, including:

  • Identifying and mapping key performance indicators across all levels
  • Ensuring proposed plans and goals are challenged and aligned
  • Embedding crosscutting targets, including value for money/efficiencies, business transformation and rewards.
  • Business Planning & Performance_
  • Lead on the creation, delivery and ongoing development of the Group's operational Business Planning & Corporate Performance Framework, including:_
  • The implementation of the annual business planning cycle, including guidance, templates, workshops and coordination of planning activities, working with the Finance Department to ensure alignment between our financial and strategic plans.
Oversee consolidation and narrative reporting of the Group's performance, key objectives and results (e.g.

the Corporate Action Plan) to management, board, committees and panels, alongside the Finance Department, including:


  • Assisting senior managers with the creation of good quality narrative for performance reporting
  • Working with the Communications Teams to provide validated information and data for the Group's corporate and customer annual reports.
  • Strategy Development Framework_
  • Lead the development, and implementation of the Strategy Development Framework to ensure consistent and effective substrategies, including best practice guidance, tools and templates
  • Provide advice and support to business sponsors on strategy development and performance management (e.g. IT, assets and people substrategies)
  • Lead on supporting senior management performance monitoring groups and facilitating strategy engagement, including workshops and supporting sessions with senior management
  • Manage the reviews of new and existing substrategies, ensuring they meet agreed standards in line with the Strategy Development Framework and support business sponsors to coordinate projects that require additional help to define, research and develop new emerging areas of strategy.
  • Team Management_
  • Lead and manage the wider Corporate Strategy function, including ownership and delivery of the Policy Management Framework, its delivery and supporting activities, including consultations, research and insight
  • Support the ongoing review of the Corporate Strategy function and the exploration of changing business needs, resources and ways of working with other departments/teams
  • Manage and develop the Corporate Strategy Team, including engagement, performance management and personal development
  • Oversee the maintenance of the team's systems, processes, templates and general administration.
