Job description

_Join Our Team at Chelmsford City Council__ learn about us, Our Values, Our range of Benefits and more_**Chelmsford City Council is seeking a Tenancy Sustainment Officer to become a part of their Strategic Housing team. The primary focus of this role is the prevention of homelessness by assisting tenants to retain and/or extend their current rented tenancy.

Sound knowledge of, and previous experience in, housing legislation as well as statutes, caselaw and guidance relating to homelessness are essential to meet the main functions of this role, working with tenants to assist with and improve their ability to meet their rental obligations and tenancy obligations.

The role will also involve working and building relationships with both registered providers of social housing in the City as well as private sector landlords, to enable the continuation of tenancies and the prevention of possession action.

The current housing crisis and the rising numbers of individuals becoming homeless as well as the number of people in temporary accommodation means that this role is a vital part of the team to ensure as many tenants as possible are able to retain their current home.

The role will be based at the Civic Centre Offices in Chelmsford with the successful applicant working 37 hours per week.

A full driving licence is required to complete regular home visits and attend other off-site appointments.

Interviews are currently scheduled for the 9th April.

Chelmsford City Council is committed to safeguarding vulnerable groups and expects all employees to share this commitment and have a range of policies and procedures in place which promote safeguarding and safer working practices across our services.

The Council's Safer Recruitment process contains pre-employment vetting which includes safeguarding training, obtaining references and ensuring compliance with Disclosure and Barring Service process.
