Description
Chiltern Railways are looking for Skilled Service Staff (Electrical or Mechanical Engineers) to join, the purpose of this role is to service repair and maintain the company's fleet including sandite and water jetting trains to an acceptable standard of fitness for public service and to ensure that all health and safety and environmental legislation is strictly adhered to.
To co-operate fully with the depot procedures and instructions as discharged through the Service Co-ordinators and the associated technical and administrative functions._ _To ensure that job specific activities do not introduce unacceptable business and safety risks to any aspect of the Company's operation, and that the appropriate policies and procedures are implemented and adhered to, ensuring that all such activities comply with the relevant sections of the Safety Case and the current Safety Plan.
To maintain, fault diagnose, repair and service the fleet of Diesel Multiple Unit vehicles and Local Hauled Coaches and other traction and rolling stock in accordance with good engineering practice, to an acceptable standard, using the individual's skill and knowledge and experience, in accordance with environmental, technical and operational policies and proceduresAcknowledge and ensure compliance with the Fleet Standards Information, as issued in the form of Depot Maintenance Schedules, Vehicle Maintenance and Technical Instructions, Job Cards and other instructions produced by the relevant departments
Co-operate with measures and systems designed to increase productivity and the efficiency of the maintenance activity, as directed by the Fleet Manager
Co-operate and comply and encourage good housekeeping and health and safety activities within the depot
Undertake other duties as requested by the company
Recognised Mechanical/Electrical Engineering apprenticeship
Awareness of health and safety procedures
Good written and oral communication skills
Good understanding of schematic diagrams/layouts
Can gather and process relevant information systematically
Sound mechanical/electrical engineering experience and knowledge
