Mental Health Services for Older People are looking to recruit a Band 6 Clinical Lead for Orchid Ward at Millbrook Mental Health Unit.


Orchid Wardis a 15 bedded mixed gender mental health assessment ward split into two units incorporating 5 beds for patients over the age of 65 years, or younger with a presenting degree of frailty and a 10 bedded unit for patients who present with a diverse range of mental health disorders, including; Bipolar, clinical depression, anxiety and personality disorders.


We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic, forward thinking and motivated Clinical Lead with experience or invested interest in working with our patient group.

You will have a sound knowledge and understanding of the mental health, physical health and social needs relating to this patient group.


We are seeking to recruit someone who has the relevant knowledge and skills to provide clinical leadership to the ward's multidisciplinary team.

You will be a visible point of contact to junior staff requiring clinical guidance, expertise and support in the delivery of high-quality, person centred and compassionate care.


It is essential that you are able to work flexible hours over 24-hour period 7 days a week if needed to support the senior nurse roster.


Applicants should have have excellent organisational, communication and problem-solving skills, be able to work alongside existing team manager and have the personal characteristics to assist in leading a strong, experienced and supportive team in a challenging and rewarding environment.


Applicants must display a considerable degree of initiative, possess mature judgement and maintain a calm, friendly and efficient manner when dealing with patients, carers, colleagues and visitors.

Applicants must have at least 12 months experience at Band 5 and have completed the preceptorship programme.

Within the Mental Health services for Older People (MHSOP) Directorate we are currently in the process of redevelopment of 3 purpose built MHSOP wards within the Millbrook hospital site at Sutton in Ashfield.

This is a very exciting time to join our team and be a part of our service development within a ward management team role.

You will be expected to provide clinical and managerial supervision and appraisal systems for a group of staff as well as maintaining your own continuing professional development.

You will be expected to deputise in absence of Ward Manager and support the ward manager in maintaining effective team working processes including e
- rostering, sickness and attendance management and PAD.
