Plumber Multi (Wet Room Fitter)to join a regional company recognised for developing and training its staff to succeed in their roles based in the
Isle of Wight. You will join them on a
full-time, permanent basis, and in return, you will receive a

Our client is an expanding construction and maintenance company focused on delivering exceptional service to its clients and customers. They employ over 330 staff based across the south of England.


The company is contracted to the Isle of Wight Council and Vectis Housing Association (amongst other clients) to provide the day-to-day repairs and planned maintenance to various buildings across the Isle of Wight.


About the role:

We are seeking a conscientious and enthusiastic
Plumber Multi (Wet Room Fitter)to join our clients team.

Applicants must have relevant plumbing qualifications (minimum NVQ Level 2 or equivalent) and broad commercial experience in their core trade, particularly in the social housing environment, and with additional experienceand capability to complete other maintenance tasks.

The applicant must be competent in at least 2 of the following trades:
Carpentry, Flooring, Glazing, Tiling, Plastering or Decorating. The operative must maintain a professional appearance and attitude andbe always polite and courteous.
It is a further requirement that all operatives must pass an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.

Key responsibilities as thePlumber Multi (Wet Room Fitter) will include:

  • A wide variety of plumbing repairs in occupied and unoccupied residential properties, corporate and civic buildings
  • Fitting bathrooms and wet rooms, first and second fixing plumbing, DFG adaptations, ceramic wall tiling, minor carpentry and decorative works
  • Diagnosing and rectifying faults within core and other trades related repair requests
  • Ensuring that the quality of work always meets the highest possible standards
  • Supporting all trades to deliver a professional and safe void maintenance service
  • Responding swiftly to all emergency situations and resolving them efficiently
  • Keeping the helpdesk up to date with progress and plans
  • Undertaking all work efficiently and cost effectively, minimising nonproductive time wherever possible and reporting any difficulties encountered to the Resource Controller and /or Supervisor
  • Following applicable Health & Safety rules in all you do, using risk assessments, method statements and PPE when needed
  • Maintaining tools, plant and equipment in a safe, clean and workable condition
  • Maintaining accurate records of works undertaken with photographic evidence as necessary
  • Asking your Supervisor/Contract Manager for assistance when required
  • Working within the Company group and assisting other contracts as directed by the Contract Manager as and when the business dictates
  • Always maintaining your company vehicle in a clean and tidy condition and report any defects to the Fleet Manager in a timely manner

What our client are looking for in their Plumber Multi (Wet Room Fitter):

  • NVQ level 2-3 in plumbing
  • Able to perform at least 3 other trades to an excellent standard
  • Full Driving Licence
  • CSCS card would be an advantage
  • PASMA / IPAF (desirable)
  • Over 3 years trade experience, ideally in the residential repairs sector
  • Bathroom and Wet room installations 1st & 2nd Fix
  • Able to use the phone or PDA to communicate effectively, explaining yourself clearly and concisely understanding what information you need or need to provide
  • Comfortable in dealing with tenants and Client representatives
  • An organised approach to meet demands in an effective and timely manner
  • A problem solver and be able to work out what is a proportionate and necessary repair, learning from your previous experiences
  • Able to selfmanage using initiative and be selfmotivated, prioritising work in the most efficient manner to meet target completion dates
  • Able to understand the Company's processes and actively engage in their culture
