Walsall Manor Paediatrics department is a very supportive department and when appointed you will be allocated a consultant to support your professional development.

The department has an excellent reputation for training and was rated by the GMC as in the top quartile for teaching in the country.

Our current doctors say they are "well supported" and "the consultants are very approachable". This is in part, a consequence of the resident
consultant model, which means they are present on the shop floor >70% of the time. Specialty doctors are highly encouraged to develop and
achieve their career goals, with >10 trust grade doctors going into training posts in the last few year and a further four having successfully achieved
entry into the specialist register via the CESR route. Two of these are now highly valued consultants in the department.

We are a friendly, cohesive team with regular formal and informal meetings.

We have an open-door policy for ad hoc conversations and advice and all consultants have sub-specialty interests including one who has an integral role in emergency department.

Moreover, as a combined
community and acute hospital, we have close liaison with community paediatrics, offering another opportunity for your comprehensive training.
We are an integrated organisation providing both community and hospital services within the local health economy with a combined total income
of just over £220 million.

  • Full GMC Registration and Licensable
