The person appointed will be part of a maintenance team, competent and responsible for all types of household and farm maintenance support needed to provide a cost effective, professional grounds and farm maintenance service to Westland Farm and Elysian Animal Assisted Therapy and Learning C.I.C.

The person appointed should be capable of working on own initiative, repairing and building minor projects.

The role also may at times involve working with and supporting clients on work experience and ensuring this is undertaken safely and professionally.

1 POLICIES & PROCEDURES

1.1 To act at all times in accordance with the C.I.C's published policies and procedures.

1.2 To ensure compliance with the C.I.C's Health & Safety, Equal Opportunities, Code of Conduct, Safeguarding and Diversity Policies.


2 SPECIFIC DUTIES:
2.1 To work in accordance with construction industry practices and relevant legislation (e.g. Environmental health)


2.2 To conduct work in accordance with established Health and Safety regulations and the C.I.C's Health and Safety Policies including the assessment of risk relating to the work being undertaken.

2.3 To assist with the movement and reinstatement of furniture and fixtures as required on site.


2.4 To undertake maintenance and defective repairs work as generated by business, which will include significant fencing building, maintenance and repairs.

Liaise and work with the staff, clients and other members of the public.


2.5 To work out the quantity of materials needed for the job by taking surface measurements or by looking at job specification.

Maintain all statutory records and documentation as instructed and required by the duties of the post and in accordance with legislation, guidance documents and requirements of building regulations.

2.6. To liaise with Leadership and staff on any Health and Safety matters.

2.7 To take care of and properly account for, plants, equipment, tools and parts, etc. on behalf of the C.I.C.

2.8 To display a friendly, flexible, helpful and courteous attitude to colleagues, clients and the general public.

2.9 To carry out general maintenance including for example building and site repairs, fencing, painting, floor and wall tiling, glazing including Perspex type material, low level rainwater goods repairs and general site development structures and duties


2.10 To deal with small, general items of repair and maintenance in the interior and exterior of the buildings and land.

Carrying out routine checks, repairs and maintenance of household and farm equipment, and the exterior of the buildings

2.11 To deal with blocked sewers and drains, including unblocking sinks and toilets.


2.12 To be capable of using of high pressure jetting machines, generators and portable tools, drive tractors, diggers and other vehicles needed to undertake general farm work.

2.13 To assist in the erection and dismantling of items, fittings and equipment.

2.14 To carry out Fire Risk Assessments

2.15 To work in potentially unpleasant conditions/carry out potential unpleasant operations e.g. work to with litter.

2.16 To deal with the general upkeep of the interior and exterior surfaces by painting and decorating.

2.17 To promptly ensure that management are made aware of any maintenance / repairs etc. which cannot immediately be carried out.

2.18 To ensure that supplies, equipment etc, are moved or relocated in a safe and effective manner

2.19 To ensure use of communication systems (e.g. mobile phones) particularly for emergency calls.

2.20 To complete forms e.g. time sheets, Annual leave bookings, works request forms indicating materials used/required, times, work undertaken etc.

2.21 To attend emergency calls outside of normal working, if available.

2.22 To support clients, work placements and volunteers to support in maintenance and groundskeeping.

2.23 To maintain field and fencing care across the farm/sites.


2.24 To perform all duties in a safe and proper manner and complying with the Council's Health and Safety policies in accordance with the Health and Safety at Work (NI) Order 1978, subsequent and other relevant legislation, and Risk Assessments to ensure safe and proper working environment for self, all employees, outside contractors and members of the public.

This includes the use/wearing of personal protective equipment.

3 GENERAL

3.1 To attend team meetings where applicable and/or briefing sessions for staff.

3.2 To attend training and supervision (including practical/exam/tests) as deemed necessary and accept all highlighted responsibilities.
