Description

Consultant Haematologist -2 posts
Two posts have arisen due to retirement. The successful applicants will join a committed, enthusiastic and friendly team of 13 Haematologists.

We wish to appoint two full-time (10PA contract) consultants with an interest in haemato-oncology but will consider less than full time applicants.

We currently work across the two sites with two separate inpatient facilities.

The two current dedicated haematology wards provide a combined accommodation for over 30 patients with facilities for Apheresis and Autologous stem cell transplants (JACIE accredited), Teenage and Young Adults, management of acute leukaemia and intrathecal treatments.

In addition, on each site there is a dedicated haematology and oncology day treatment unit used for chemotherapy administration.

The two post holders will initially be based 1 at Poole (an interest in
myeloma and other malignant haematology preferable) and 1 at Bournemouth (an interest in
lymphoma and other malignant haematology preferable) but will ultimately, as with all the other consultant haematology posts, be working cross-site when the new cancer care ward (with 30 Haematology designated beds and 20 Oncology beds), is built at the Bournemouth site.

This is currently estimated to occur from November 2024. Outpatient clinics and chemotherapy facilities will continue to be delivered from Bournemouth, Poole and Christchurch sites.
