***Job description

The Royal Borough is proud to have an outstanding Communications Team, promoting the work and priorities of our ambitious council to residents, councillors, colleagues and other stakeholders, as well as supporting our wider community engagement activities such as consultations.

  • A multiawardwinning service, we routinely punch above our weight and gain recognition within the communications sector. Now we are looking for an experienced communicator to join our small, friendly communications and design team as a Senior Communications Officer.

This position is for a professional who has already built some experience in a communications role, who is looking to take their career to the next level at one of the most high-profile councils in the region.

You will play a lead role in managing the day-to-day running of a busy media relations office, lead on some of our communications and engagement campaigns, and support the Service Lead for Communications in the development and delivery of our communications plan, including deputising for the Service Lead as required.

We are looking for someone to play an active role as part of the wider team, creating and delivering truly impactful and engaging communications plans and materials across digital and traditional channels that clearly articulate Council Plan priorities, key messages and calls to action.

You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as being motivated, creative, organised and have an interest in current affairs.

You will need to be able to work on creative multi-channel communication campaigns, including production of social media content, videos and e-newsletter content.

Above all, you need to be someone who believes that effective communications and genuine stakeholder engagement can contribute to making a positive difference for communities and the places we serve.

If you would like to have an informal chat about the role please speak to David Wiles, Service Lead for Communications, on
