C. Bastock Ltd Funeral Directors are expanding their team and have a full time position for a Funeral Service Operative.

Brief Job Description

• Acting as a chauffeur and bearer for funeral services.
• Collection of a deceased from hospital mortuaries, nursing homes, private residencies or wherever is required.
• Preparation of a deceased for viewing. i.e. Hygienic treatment, dressing and placing in the coffin.
• Vehicle cleaning to a very high standard.
• Preparation of coffins. i.e. Fixing the appropriate handles to the coffin and upholstering the interior.
• Delivering funeral documentation to cemeteries and crematoria from both funeral homes, collecting cremated remains and other errands which may be necessary.
• General duties in keeping the work areas clean and tidy.
• Required to partake in a compulsory oncall rota to enable us to provide our 24 hour emergency service, for which overtime is paid.

The above points are the main duties associated with the role of funeral operative. However there are many elements to ensuring the smooth running of all funerals, and this list is not exhaustive.

Person Specification

• Possess a personable nature.
• The ability to multitask and prioritise is very important
• Must be a selfmotivator with enthusiasm for the role.
• A smart, well groomed appearance is essential
