What will you be doing?
***We are looking for a Deputy Editor to work on one of Argus' flagship publications


This is an excellent opportunity for an analytical, inquisitive, numerate and literate commodity market expert to manage a small team of reporters covering some of the key refined oil product markets, including some of Argus' key benchmark price assessments.

You will work with the editor to maintain and develop the European service, drawing upon your market experience and Argus' deep experience of producing news, analysis and market pricing across a range of commodity markets.

You will collaborate with Argus' established, market leading reports in other commodities including crude oil, LPG and biofuels.

You will help develop the analysis and fundamental datasets available to clients and ensure our product helps our clients achieve their goals.

The environment is fast paced but values careful thought.

You will enjoy collaborative work with colleagues from a range of backgrounds, many located in Argus' other offices around the globe.


There are opportunities to travel and attend industry events, as well as to present at industry conferences and lead webinar sessions.


Key responsibilities

  • Manage team of refined product reporters and work in tandem with daily report Editor to lead group
  • Monitor and assess technical markets to produce weekly price assessments, intelligence, market commentaries, news, analysis, and reports.
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with key contacts and liaising regularly with industry stakeholders (buyers, sellers, brokers, traders, project developers) to gain market intelligence
  • Present at meetings, conferences and industry events.
  • Engage with industry to ensure a close understanding of market developments to ensure both methodology and the wider report remain relevant to the market.
  • Help to build and curate data sets that help explain market dynamics.

Skills & Experience

  • Commodity markets experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability and interest in rapidly developing strong news judgement and editing skills.
  • Selfmotivation and initiative to meet tight deadlines.
  • The ability to network and build contacts with industry executives and internally.
  • Proficiency working with Excel and interest in further developing data skills.
