We are looking to recruit a full-time Band 5 Mental Health Practitioner to work within our Personality Disorder Service. This will be an exciting opportunity to develop continuing practice and role development skills.

It is a post suitable for either an experienced Band 5 mental health practitioner looking to develop their knowledge base or, a newly/soon to be qualified member of staff and preceptorship will be fully supported.


This post will be based at our office in Chesterton Medical Centre, Cambridge but also having the ability and flexibility to travel to our other bases throughout Cambridgeshire, Peterborough, Huntingdon and Wisbech.


The service has undergone an innovative redesign and is embarking on an exciting phase of delivering a high-quality service which strives for excellence for its service users.

PDCS is part of the Exemplar project in Peterborough, working closely with the community and other services.

There are a variety of areas within the team that would give valuable experience.

We have varied treatment pathways from short term management of risk presentations, moderate term group treatment pathways and longer-term caseloads that give the opportunity to develop some structured clinical intervention skills.

There are a wide range of weekly work plans from working in the duty team, facilitating groups, case load management, along with taking part in group reflection and supervision, training and education.


The service provides evidence-based treatment protocols for patients with moderate to severe personality disorder which cover three main areas of impairment that the illness can present: namely psychological, occupational and social, with a specific focus on managing high chronic risk.

  • To be an active participant in the multidisciplinary team, formulating care plans and utilising appropriate assessments.
  • To take part in all quality initiatives actively supporting and participating in both policies and service developments in the specific care group.
  • Carry a caseload, actively working with service users and carers.
  • To participate in regular clinical, professional and managerial supervision.
  • To maintain and contribute to standards of professional care, ethics, policies and procedures.
  • To contribute, to improve access for patients to local generic health care services, primary, secondary and specialist services.
  • To maintain record keeping within Trust guidelines, national standards and NICE.
  • To ensure that all patients have an individual risk assessment and care plan which has been created collaboratively.
