Our communications team deliver communications across a variety of channels, including news stories, regular e-bulletins, briefings, social media and our magazine for staff.

It is vital that we get our internal communications right and you will play a key role in strengthening our messaging to and engaging with our staff.


We're looking for an experienced and dynamic communications professional to work with colleagues across the organisation to contribute to internal communications and specific staff projects, such as our annual staff awards.

'Connect with People' is one of our values and you'll have a vital role in bringing this to life in multiple, imaginative ways, supporting the work of a range of colleagues.

You'll be required to work with teams across the Trust to gain their views on internal communications and their suggestions for improvements, and use staff feedback to recommend and implement new initiatives to improve internal communications and ensure our staff view The Christie as a great place to work.

Your main duties relate to producing high quality engaging content and by developing creative ways of conveying important news and information to our staff.

You'll do this through encouraging two-way communication through, for example, surveys, suggestion schemes, workshops, and social networking tools.


You'll also be working closely with our organisational development team and be involved in event management - supporting and promoting a range of events including our annual staff awards, diversity initiatives, and staff recognition schemes.


In addition to this, you'll also work on campaigns such as our seasonal vaccination campaign, national NHS campaigns and a range of other staff initiatives.

The Christie is one of Europe's leading cancer centres, treating over 60,000 patients a year.

We are based in Manchester and serve a population of 3.2 million across Greater Manchester & Cheshire, but as a national specialist around 15% patients are referred to us from other parts of the country.


We provide radiotherapy through one of the largest radiotherapy departments in the world; chemotherapy on site and through 14 other hospitals; highly specialist surgery for complex and rare cancer; and a wide range of support and diagnostic services.

We are also an international leader in research, with world first breakthroughs for over 100 years.

We run one of the largest early clinical trial units in Europe with over 300 trials every year.

Cancer research in Manchester, most of which is undertaken on the Christie site, has been officially ranked the best in the UK.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Support on the creation and delivery of internal communication campaigns and plans that can be measure and in line with the Trust's priorities

Support to embed the principles of the Trust's new values and behaviours


Be the lead for communications on shared campaigns and projects with the HR/Organisational Development team and relevant divisions to promote health and wellbeing, our equality and diversity principles and other major internal projects and programmes such as Christie International.


Support the team on the development and management of our internal communication channels, ensuring they are regularly reviewed and evaluated for usage and impact, and enhanced in line with changing Trust needs and new technology.

Use advanced keyboard skills to support on designing publications, presentations, and processing of both internal and external documents.


Maintaining stock control and ensuring of safe use of expensive or highly complex equipment including the purchasing of physical assets such as IT equipment, phones and video production kit.

Source articles of interest, prepare, rewrite and edit copy for the Trust magazine to improve readability (Plain English).


Assist with the development of new and measurable channels of communications, as required based on staff feedback and insight - support divisions with rollout as needed.


Establish and nurture effective relationships with colleagues across the Trust working collaboratively to ensure buy-in for activities, innovate, and to share good practice, information and news stories - helping to build a sense of connection and belonging across the Trust.


Work with the digital team to assist in the development of HIVE our internal website, and our staff app to ensure that these meet the needs of different audiences.


Work closely with the Engagement & Organisational Development team to ensure effective management and synchronisation of the internal and external message.
