Description

As part of a patients therapeutic care plan and under the supervision of a qualified therapist provide support with the practice of activities of daily living including personal care, continence management, feeding, exercise and mobility programmes and support qualified therapists with home visits when necessary.

To be responsible for the safe and competent use of all appropriate equipment, checking equipment is safe for patient use and teaching patients to assemble & dismantle equipment efficiently.

To be professional and be accountable for all aspects of your own work, implementing therapy treatment plans as prescribed by the Therapists and to report treatment results.

To assess patient understanding of treatment proposals, gain valid consent and to have the capacity to work within a legal framework with patients who lack the capacity to consent to treatment.

To help organise and assist in the running of the Stroke Rehabilitation service. To liaise with patients families and carers, other members of the multidisciplinary team and community partners.

The post holder will recognise precautions, signs/symptoms, and contraindications in relation to the delivery of patient care and will seek the support of an appropriate qualified member of the team, when necessary.
